The district has six hospitals with inpatient care, as well as outpatient medical care centres for the key medical specialities of acute care. These are complemented by the outpatient care provided by licensed doctors, dentists and veterinarians with their own practices, as well as a closely knit network of pharmacies in urban and rural areas.

The District Administration authorities have offices not only in the district town of Zwickau, but also in Glauchau, Hohenstein-Ernstthal, Limbach-Oberfrohna and Werdau.
